Exide was born in the United States in 1888 and today has about 15,000 employees worldwide. In the last 10 years it has created a process of acquisitions that have allowed the company to incorporate prestigious companies and brands such as Battronic (Canada), BIG (UK), Tudor (Spain), Ceac (France, Fiat Group), Deta (Germany ) and GNB Technologies (US). With a range of over 5,000 products, the EXIDE Group is at the forefront in the design, manufacture and marketing of automotive batteries and stationary and traction batteries for the industrial sector.
EXIDE, the first name in batteries, operates in 89 countries around the world and with 25% of the market is the world leader in lead acid batteries; the total turnover is 2.4 billion dollars divided between Automotive (60%) and Industrial (40%). The two Global Business Units, that are focused on the specific needs of customers, are:
-the Transportation Division, which supplies the Original Equipment and the aftermarket market with batteries for starting and light traction such as those for cars and commercial vehicles, industrial vehicles, motorcycles, the nautical sector, trolleys and campers;
-the Industrial Energy Division (Traction and Stationary), which supplies the Original Equipment and the replacement market for electrical applications such as lift trucks and electric vehicles, equipment for material handling and floor cleaning (Traction) and batteries for systems of electrical continuity as computerized and communication systems, alarms, solar systems, uninterruptible power supplies for power plants, telecommunications, military equipment and railways (Stationary). Exide is also able to supply special products such as Gel, AGM or alkaline batteries.
